A Handcrafted Outdoor Sauna Built for British Gardens
The Pennine Barrel is more than a sauna — it’s a year‑round wellness retreat designed for UK homes. Built using spruce wood and finished with waterproof roof tiling, this traditional barrel sauna delivers powerful Finnish heat, fast warm‑up times, and a beautifully immersive spa experience in the privacy of your garden. Its curved shape isn’t just iconic; it naturally improves heat circulation, reduces energy use, and creates a deep, even warmth that traditional cabin saunas can’t match.
Designed for up to six people, the Pennine Barrel blends authentic sauna tradition with modern comfort. Inside, warm LED backlighting, a half‑moon rear window, and premium Harvia heating create a calming atmosphere ideal for relaxation, detoxification, and contrast therapy. Every detail — from the entrance seating to the handcrafted benches — is built to elevate your outdoor living space.
Built for UK Weather, Designed for Outdoor Living
Every SaunaPlunge outdoor model is engineered for British conditions. Thermo‑treated wood resists moisture and temperature changes, while the raised base and reinforced structure ensure long‑term durability. For best performance, place your sauna on a level surface such as decking, paving, or concrete, and ensure it is not positioned in standing water. With the right base and drainage, your sauna will remain stable, protected, and ready for year‑round use.
Optional Treatex Exterior Oil Finishes
Constructed from substantial spruce timber, the Pennine Barrel Sauna is designed to perform beautifully without the need for additional exterior treatment. The thickness and quality of the timber provide excellent durability and natural resistance to the elements.
However, for those seeking an extra level of protection and a personalised finish, we now offer a range of premium Treatex Exterior Oil colours. While entirely optional, applying a Treatex finish can help preserve the timber's appearance, reduce weathering from sun and rain, and contribute to the long-term condition and longevity of your sauna.
Available in a selection of carefully chosen shades, Treatex oils enhance the natural character of the wood while allowing it to breathe, creating a beautiful finish that complements any outdoor setting.
Powerful Finnish Heat for Authentic Wellness
At the heart of the Pennine Barrel is an 8kW Harvia heater — the gold standard in Finnish sauna technology. Enjoy traditional dry heat at 90–100°C, or add water to the coals for gentle steam therapy. The heater is hard‑wired and must be installed by a qualified electrician using a dedicated circuit, ensuring safe, reliable performance.
Easy Care & Long‑Term Maintenance
Maintaining your sauna is simple. We recommend annual wood treatment and regular cleaning with gentle soapy water to keep the interior fresh and the exterior protected. Full care guides are provided after installation, along with ongoing support from our team.
